talk about chris christie. it looks like is he going to be an overwhelmingly huge winner so to speak. >> he absolutely is there is a silly, ridiculous discussion about what percentage does he have to get? it's going to make a big difference if he gets 61 rather than 59. this is absurd. >> what is incredible is that you have a republican who is at least conservative at least fiscally who is going to win a second term in a deeply blue state. you know, that's good news for republicans. they need to start winning some blue and competitive purple states to win the presidency. >> now, i will tell you, susan, a lot of talk in the state of new jersey, especially among conservative circles is that some of what went on with hurricane sandy a year ago had a lot what's with what's going on tuesday in election in new jersey and then maybe 2016. >> that's part of it. is he definitely a pop police governor. he has found a way to appeal broadly to people across age, race and even party. this is really going to be playing into this election. but i think more broadly speaking, as larry was saying. may

you talk about that and how shaquille o'neal's endorsement of chris christie could affect the hillary clinton campaign? >> the 2000 campaign was a very effective one. i was an intern on that campaign and did a heck of a job fetching coffee and answering phones. but in all seriousness, it's a great comparison from that race to this one. she didn't go in there thinking she was a given to win the senate seat. she went in as a total novice, introduced herself to voters, got her hands dirty. something that she was accused of not doing in 2008. the reason it's really important for the clinton campaign to take that approach this time around is because you look at shaquille o'neal who hardly ever weighs into politics but he did endorsing chris christie, a republican. an overwhelming majority of black voters supported barack obama. but in my 2008 "party crashing," plugging that, 35% of black voters ages 18 to 24 actually identify as independent, thomas. so while they are obama loyalists, many of them, they're not necessarily kem contract party loyalists and president obama slipped in t

christie. who's in the middle of a re-election campaign. >> that's right, the book is called double down. republican nominee mitt romney considered tapping christie as a running mate. but declined over fears of his temper, medical history and spending. let's bring in george stephanopoulos, who has a show coming up this morning, is this likely to hurt governor christie as he contemplates a run for president? >> i'm not sure. one of the things it shows tension between governor christie and mitt romney. and mitt romney's campaign. christie is the future. mitt romney's campaign is the past. they did leaked all kinds of information from his vetting file. it's pretty clear from this book that governor romney had a lot of questions about chris christie, he said that he was always showing up late for events, was arrogant, and even making fun of his weight. but i don't think so. and we're what seeing with governor christie right now, he is cruising to re-election tuesday in new jersey. republican in a blue state. probably going to be the first republican to get more than 50% of the vote. he

lead his party to victory. and today new jersey governor chris christie is traveling around new jersey as he runs for re-election in what's widely seen as a test run for president himself. david gregory is moderator of "meet the press." good morning. great to see you. >> morning, lester. >> schumer in his endorsement of clinton says she has his full and unwavering support. with her his party with vanquish ted cruz, the tea party republicans in 2016. i'm curious, does this start to sound like the beginning perhaps of a series of coordinated and carefully timed endorsements to give her candidacy a ring of invincibility or inevitability? >> yeah, i think you're right. i think that's the right instinct. as i talk to supporters of hillary clinton, they're unabashed about saying that she's running. that all signs point toward it. even though there are some who still cling to the idea that she needs to be persuaded to make the final decision, and maybe that's, of course, the case. but it's all lining up that way. i think she'll be very careful about an air of inevitability. that's what she ha
